Case Study: Texas CASA

Efficiently Training a Geographically Dispersed Audience

Can’t say enough good things about the material covered and the way it was presented – outstanding.”

Fantastic educational tool.”

Challenge

When a child is abused or neglected, the court will appoint a volunteer advocate, known as a Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA, to help determine how to meet the needs of a child and find them a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. Texas CASA oversees 71 programs with over 7,600 volunteers serving nearly 24,000 foster children.  Texas CASA needed an efficient and effective means for providing training to their diverse and geographically dispersed staff and volunteers.

Solution

LeanForward developed a series of six interactive online training modules, which feature a video-based case study of a child being navigated through Texas’ child protective system. These modules also include some gaming elements to help keep learners engaged.

Results

The series has enabled Texas CASA to provide comprehensive and uniform training to all its employees and volunteers. It has also been very well received by their diverse user base, receiving comments such as, “Can’t say enough good things about the material covered and the way it was presented – outstanding,” and “Fantastic educational tool.  Thanks.”
